Benefits for Career Employees

  • Competitive Based Compensation: Considers wage compensation that is equitable and market driven.
  • Life Insurance: Equal to annual salary up to $200,000 at no cost to the employee.
  • Retirement Plan: Membership in the Washington Department of Retirement Services Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) program.
  • Medical and Dental Coverage: For employees and their dependents. Parks Tacoma pays 90% of the total cost of medical coverage through Kaiser Permanente. Dental plans are available through Delta Dental of Washington or Willamette Dental.
  • Tax Savings Accounts: Health Savings Account/Health Care Flexible Spending accounts are available to pay for health care expenses with “before tax” dollars. Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account are available to pay for dependent care expenses with “before tax” dollars.
  • Deferred Compensation (457 plan): Optional employee paid retirement savings plans are available through ICMA, WA State Deferred Comp Program, Empower and Mass Mutual.
  • 13 Paid Holidays: New Years Day, Martin Luther King’s Birthday, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Juneteenth, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and  two floating holidays.
  • Vacation: 8 hours earned monthly (12 days per year) with an escalation to 10-20 hours per month, commensurate with the years of service
  • Sick Leave: 8 hours earned monthly.
  • Administrative Leave: 40 hours granted per year for exempt employee classifications.

Benefits for Part-Time Benefits Eligible Employees (30-35 hours a week)

  • Retirement Plan: Membership in the Washington Department of Retirement Services Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) program.
  • Medical Coverage: For employees and their dependents. Parks Tacoma pays 90% of the total cost of medical coverage through Kaiser Permanente.
  • Paid Time Off: 8 hours earned monthly
  • Sick Leave: 1 hour earned for every 40 hours worked

Benefits for Part-Time Benefits Eligible Employees (25-29 hours a week)

  • Retirement Plan: Membership in the Washington Department of Retirement Services Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) program.
  • Medical Coverage: Parks Tacoma pays 90% of the total cost of employee only medical coverage through Kaiser Permanente.
  • Paid Time Off: 8 hours earned monthly
  • Sick Leave: 1 hour earned for every 40 hours worked

All Employees Receive

  • Parks Tacoma Familiarization Pass: defined access pass and immediate family members to various facilities and attractions within Parks Tacoma.
  • Parks Tacoma Fitness Pass: Complete access to all Community Center facilities including; Eastside Community Center, STAR Center, Center at Norpoint, People’s Community Center.
  • Employee Assistance Program: 24/7/365 personal and confidential resource to support you and your well-being.
