Celebrate Bike Month at events across Tacoma

May is Bike Month and there are plenty of ways to get involved by exploring biking opportunities at Parks Tacoma locations or joining an activity hosted by partner organizations. Whether you are a seasoned cyclist or brave beginner, this month is a great time to celebrate your love for biking and connect with Tacoma’s cycling community.
Parks Tacoma celebrated Bike Month at the May 12 Park Board meeting held at Eastside Community Center. To kick off the fun, Commissioner Pete Reyes was joined by Tacoma City Councilmember Kristina Walker for a bike ride to the community center. Community partner Downtown On the Go was there to give out, and help safely fit, free bike helmets and accessories for community members. During the meeting, the Board of Park Commissioners delivered a proclamation celebrating May as Bike Month and affirmed the agency’s support of cycling as one of Tacoma’s most popular outdoor recreation activities and as a mode of active transit.
