Point Defiance Marina JUST FOR FUN Monthly Fishing Derby
Open to all anglers, all ages, and all skill levels!
Bring in your legal catch to be weighed at the Marina Store for a chance at bragging rights and a bit of swag!
How to participate:

- Have it weighed and receive a Derby Ticket

The fine print:
Catch a legal salmon from:
- Your boat launched from the Point Defiance Marina boathouse or boat launch
- Our public fishing pier
- One of our rental boats
- Or any way you like, as long as you started from the Point Defiance Marina Complex or fished from the pier here.
- Entries to the Derby from a boat START the day WDFW opens Marina Area 11 to fishing from a boat
- Entries to the Derby from a boat END the last day of the month, OR at the WDFW closure of Marina Area 11 fishing from a boat, whichever comes first.
- As fishing from a dock is permitted outside of the boat fishing closures, fish caught from our dock at the Marina can be entered at any time during a month a derby is running.
- Bring your fish to the Point Defiance Marina Store and ask our staff for a Derby Ticket.
- One Derby Ticket is provided per participant, but we’ll happily record the weight of any subsequent fish you catch, to keep the competition for HEAVIEST catch accurate.
- Boat launch participants should bring their launch ticket when picking up their Derby Ticket as proof of launching at the Marina.
- Marina staff will put the fish on the scale, record the weight, and snap a photo with your prize catch.
- Anglers must have a fishing license.
- Fish can be entered in the contest until the last day of the month or the last day of legal fishing in Area 11, whichever comes first. As a reminder, salmon fishing is still allowed from the fishing dock even is Marina Area 11 is closed to boats, dock-caught entries will be accepted all month long!
Prizes are at awarded at the end of each month:
- The person with the heaviest fish will win some Point Defiance Marina swag.
- Derby tickets will be randomly drawn for additional prizes, sall participants have a chance to walk away with something great!
