Step back into the past at the Throwback 5k. This unique event celebrates the spirit of classic racing. Dig your tube socks and sweat bands out of the closet and join us for this fun and affordable event!
- Racers are encouraged to dress in clothing from their favorite decade.
- Racers will be timed with stopwatches.

What time does the race start?

The race starts at 9:00 AM on Saturday, April 19 at Wapato Park. We will start and finish at the same place which will be near the Wapato Pavilion.

What is the course?

Course maps are included below with water stations shown. Please note that the course will be a continuous loop that will start and finish at the Wapato Pavilion.

What is the event fee?

February 1 – April 19: $15 per person

How long is registration?

Registration is open from February 1 – April 19.
- If we are not at our maximum capacity at this time of participants, we will be taking day-of registrations.
- We will be taking day-of registrations from 8-8:45 AM.

Where to park on race day?
-
There is a limited number of spots in Wapato Park. We encourage carpooling, public transportation or street parking.
Please do not leave valuables in your vehicle as Parks Tacoma is not liable for vehicles.

Where can I pick up my race packet?

Packet pickup will be at the Parks Tacoma Tent on race day starting at 8 AM.

Will there be day-of registration?

If we are not at our maximum capacity at this time of participants, we will be taking day-of registrations. We will be taking day-of registrations from 8-8:45 AM.

What do I get with my registration?

Each participant will receive a sticker, and a race bib as part of their registration fee. The bibs will not have a chip attached to the bib to time you for the event – but will be a throwback bib to go along with our event!

Will there be a bag check at the race?

We will not be offering bag checks at the race this year. Please plan accordingly and we recommend not leaving valuables in vehicles.

Will the race be timed?

Yes, but not in the current way that several races are doing our chip timed events! We will be having stopwatches and a large clock be the devices that will mark your times. This Throwback style of timing will keep the the race authentic and be a fun way to time yourself in an event.

Do the top participants win anything?

The top male, top female, and top non-binary participant will be recognized. Winners will need to stick around to receive this and capture a photo.

Can my dog run with me?

Of course! It is highly encouraged that your dog participates in the event with you. All dogs must be accompanied by their human friend and must stay on leash for the entirety of the event. You are responsible for your dog’s behavior If they are displaying aggressive or overly disruptive behavior, you will be asked to leave.

Is the course stroller friendly?

Yes, this course is stroller friendly and will be entirely paved trails.

What if I cannot make the race anymore?

- If you decide to withdraw from the race on or after April 3rd you will only be eligible for a 50% refund.
- No refunds will be given for withdrawals on or after April 16th.
