Verlo Playfield
Project Details
The Kraken, NHL, One Roof Foundation and Virginia Mason Franciscan Health are partnering with Parks Tacoma to restore and renovate the existing basketball court at Verlo Playfield into a multiple sport court, expanding the usability of the court. The improved Multipurpose Court will consist of features to play basketball, floor ball (street hockey) and futsal. The new, fully inclusive, and accessible floor ball and multipurpose court for the Eastside neighborhood will provide Tacoma youth access and opportunity to experience hockey and help ensure that they have a safe space to learn and play the game for years to come. The project will also include permanent artwork created by local youth curated through an art contest (see below), which will be featured on the backboard of the multisport stanchions. The improvements will include:- permanent sports equipment to encourage multi-sport play
- a new court with painted lines
- artwork by local youth
- fencing
