The Tacoma Nature Center is nestled in a 71-acre wooded nature preserve and overlooks a serpentine-shaped lake. It offers a peaceful setting for your wedding, retreat or special event.

Rental Amenities

- Available furnishings –75 chairs, eight 5-foot diameter round tables and four 12-foot-by 30″ rectangular tables (Note that there is not space for all tables at once)
- Parking – Free parking for up to 50 cars on a non-reserved basis
- Cleaning – Renter is responsible for cleaning after the event
- Decorations – Masking tape only, no pins; decorating time included in rental time
- Kitchen – Small kitchenette – no on-site cooking
- Catering – Outside caterers allowed
- Liquor allowed with permit – District bartender regulations apply
- Special Service – Scenic outdoor area available for weddings. Staff person on-site during event.
- Audio/Visual*
- Large built-in automated screen for slide and video projection – no charge
- Sound equipment available with advanced reservation ONLY. Includes a wired microphone at the front of the room and a multiple-disc CD player with built-in surround sound. A portable Bluetooth compatible speaker suitable for use with iPod type devices is also available.
- Digital projector with portable speakers available with advanced reservation ONLY. The projector does NOT connect to the surround sound speakers.
- Hard-wired internet access (cable provided) and/or wireless access for up to 50 devices is available at no charge. Password posted in room.
*Please note that there is no guarantee that our equipment will work with your devices. If sound or projection is vital to your event, please bring all of your own equipment or plan to test ours in advance with your device(s). There is no A/V technician on site to support rentals.

Availability and Terms

The Center accommodates up to 80 people with a two or four hour minimum rental time
- A 2-hour, non-refundable deposit is required to secure reservation. The balance is due 30 days after the initial reservation
- Refundable damage deposit is also required for social functions and business functions with food or drink involved
- The damage deposit and all finalized fees (added time, etc.) are due 2 weeks prior to the event
- Please know the alcohol guidelines if alcohol will be served.
- Debit or credit required for payment; no cash or checks accepted.
- Cancellation/changes to reservation: the 2-hour deposit is always non-refundable. The balance of the rental fees is refundable on the following schedule: cancellation 61 days or more before reservation date – full refund of non-deposit fees; cancellation 30-60 days before reservation date – 50% of balance; cancellation less than 30 days before reservation date – no refund.

Business Meeting Pricing

- $75 per hour Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, and Saturday/Sunday 9:00 am – 2:00 pm
- $150 per hour for all other times
- To reserve a date, a 2-hour non-refundable deposit is required
- $100 refundable damage deposit required
Please note that due to Nature Center programming, there are very few available dates for daytime rentals during the summer. Additionally, many Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays during the day September through May are usually booked. However, we encourage you to call to discuss availability.

Social Events Pricing (Weddings, Parties, Memorial Services)

- Minimum rental 2 hours if entirely inside building open hours of 10-2 daily
- Minimum rental 4 hours if any portion of rental is outside open hours of 10-2 daily
- To reserve a date, a 2-hour non-refundable deposit is required
- $350 refundable damage deposit required
- Please note that chargeable damage could include food/drink stains on carpet or fabric chairs and we do not recommend this space for rentals that have a high number of children.
