Weight & Fitness Room at STAR Center
The well-ventilated, clean space features a state-of-the-art array of Technogym fitness equipment and a complement of free weights suitable for bodybuilders. Here you’ll find the same treadmills, recumbent and upright stationary bicycles, and elliptical and stair-climber machines typical of most membership-only fitness centers.
STAR has the same Technogym gear in place at People’s Center and the Center at Norpoint. There’s a universal gym and leg extension, leg curl, leg press, low row, and chest press machines, among others. Also available is a machine specially designed for wheelchair users who want to build up arm muscles to increase and improve mobility.
Fitness Center Ages
- Members under the age of 12 are not permitted to use the fitness center.
- All youth under the age of 17 are required to complete a fitness orientation prior to using the fitness center.
- Members ages 12-14 must be accompanied and monitored by an adult while using the fitness equipment.
Personal Training
Sign up at the STAR Center front desk.
- 3 or 5 sessions: $70 per session
- 10 sessions: $60 per session
- 20 sessions: $55 per session

I’m Franchesca, and I’m thrilled to join Parks Tacoma as a Personal Trainer. I’ve lived in Washington most of my life, and Tacoma became home in 2020.
As a lifelong learner, I am committed to constantly advancing my certifications and education in fitness and nutrition. From being an athlete my whole life, I personally believe everyone can achieve the mindset of an athlete. A mindset that is committed to accomplishing one’s fitness goal through willpower, dedication to practices, and a support system (I’d love to be a part of yours). Sharing my passion for fitness and health is not just a job but a calling—one that fosters strong community connections and growth. I am enthusiastic to empower all ages and all levels in becoming confident in the toolbox we will build for better health, increased longevity, and quality of life.
In my spare time, you’ll find me exploring nature and local parks with my dog, indulging in art, practicing self-care, and enjoying quality time with loved ones. Life to me is about balance and embracing new experiences, learning, and connecting!

I am happy to have the opportunity to be able to help the people in our community through doing everything in my power to uplift them and allow them to reach their goals in the most efficient way I know. I’m passionate about supporting and witnessing the progress people make while striving towards their goals and my background in athletics and weightlifting now allows me to do this to the best of my abilities. While I’m training, I believe in creating a safe learning environment where it’s ok to make mistakes because those are opportunities to learn and grow. My goal is to do everything in my power to allow the people around me to flourish to the best of their abilities and I’m excited to have this opportunity here at Parks Tacoma!

As a lifelong Tacoma resident, I have always enjoyed all the physical activities this community offers. From playing soccer, golf, tennis, volleyball, trail running, even my first marathon at age 48! I have realized that it is vital to have a solid foundation for an athletic performance through strength and conditioning in a gym environment. I’m passionate about helping and encouraging people. My top goal is making sure people are safe and comfortable in a gym setting to meet their fitness goals. My goal is to connect with as many people as possible so we can enjoy this gym to its full potential.
