Music, food and fun make Tacoma Summer Blast a top destination for the Fourth of July

Start summer off strong with the largest free Fourth of July celebration in the South Sound, Tacoma Summer Blast. Hosted by Parks Tacoma in partnership with the City of Tacoma, Summer Blast is the perfect way to celebrate the holiday with all-ages fun and fireworks.summer blast 4th of july

Starting at noon, enjoy two stages of live music, three beer gardens, dozens of food stands and a wide variety of artisan and commercial vendors. Festivities will be happening all day at both Dune Peninsula and Cummings Park.

“The Fourth of July is the unofficial start of summer in the Pacific Northwest, and Parks Tacoma is thrilled to welcome our community to kick it off with a day of fun and entertainment,” said Park Board President Andrea Smith.

Cummings Park will host the Kids Zone with bounce houses, soccer, basketball and other interactive games, plus make and take crafts like sand art and spin painting. A karaoke booth will be available to serenade friends and family, and a new toddler-only area will feature inflatables designed for our littlest guests.

Also new this year, Parks Tacoma will offer paid parking for $25 per vehicle, available in the Multipurpose Lot near the Pearl Street entrance to Point Defiance Park. Drivers can take the first exit from the roundabout and follow the road up the hill to a gravel lot located just a short uphill walk from the festivities at Dune Peninsula.summer blast 4th of july

In the evening around 10 p.m., enjoy the spectacular City of Tacoma Fireworks Show presented by Tacoma Venues & Events. Fireworks are illegal for personal use in Tacoma city limits and misuse can result in serious injury. The community show at Summer Blast is not only a safe and legal alternative, but also an opportunity for people from all walks of life to come together and enjoy a staple of summer.
