Lawn Bowling Clinics

Parks Tacoma has partnered with the Tacoma Lawn Bowling Club to provide Lawn Bowling to the public in Tacoma!

Activities will be facilitated and run at the Tacoma Lawn Bowling Green in Wright Park.

• Classes will be taught by experienced and engaging volunteers of their historic club.
• Equipment will be provided.

Lawn bowling, generally called bowls, is an easy game to learn and can take a lifetime to master. The object of the game is to get your bowls closest to the target, the jack, using biased (not symmetrical) balls. It is played on a carefully maintained bowling green at Wright Park.

The Learn to Bowl program is designed for those just starting out and seeking formal instruction. This program will teach you the basics of the game including the equipment, technique, etiquette, types of shots, team interaction, communication, and tournament preparation.

The gates are locked to avoid damage to the green. Any unauthorized cutting, removal, or destruction of the turf is prohibited. To protect the green, only flat soled shoes should be worn, and dogs are not allowed in this area.
