Tacoma’s 4th of July celebration is back! Head to the Ruston Way Waterfront where you’ll enjoy a full day of live music, food, entertainment, and craft vendors. The fun begins at noon and ends with spectacular fireworks over Puget Sound.
The celebration takes place at Dune Peninsula and Cummings Park on Ruston Way with over 150 vendors, 2 stages and a 20-minute firework display. The fireworks display can be seen from Dune Peninsula Park in the north, along Ruston Way Waterfront, and stretching to Jack Hyde Park in the south.
The Emerald Queen Casino fireworks show is presented by the City of Tacoma.

The fireworks display will launch from a barge about 3,000 feet offshore from Cummings Park, maximizing prime visibility from most parks along the Ruston Way Waterfront, from Dune Peninsula Park in the north to Jack Hyde Park in the south.
- The fireworks display will take place once it is dark (approx 10 pm). It will be visible along all of Ruston Way!
- A designated ADA viewing area can be found on the horseshoe pier of Cummings Park.
- The fireworks show is presented by Emerald Queen Casino & Hotel in partnership with Parks Tacoma and City of Tacoma.
Beer Gardens
Tacoma Summer Blast features two beer gardens! Stop by Cummings Park or Dune Peninsula and enjoy a refreshing beverage (ages 21+ only).
- The Cummings Park beer garden is hosted by the Lobster Shop. Visit the Lobster Shop beer garden from 1-9 pm and enjoy a selection of draft beer, lobster rolls, house made strawberry shortcake, and more!
- The Dune Peninsula beer garden runs from 12-10 pm and is hosted by the Redefining You Foundation. All proceeds in the Dune beer garden benefit this non-profit group whose mission is to empower service women, women veterans, and military spouses while completely redefining their lifestyles and perspectives following military service.
Kids Zone at Cummings Park
Entertainment created especially for kids will be bursting from the Kids Zone at Cummings Park all day long!
Burn off energy with a bounce house, inflatable obstacle course and basketball, and other interactive games. Cool off with shaved ice and Italian sodas, available for purchase from Entertainment Masters. Get creative with make-and-take crafts like sand art and canvas painting, or get your face painted and have a photo shoot at the selfie station.
Meet some of your favorite costumed characters and serenade your friends and family at the karaoke booth!

Supreme La Rock
Hailing from Seattle, Washington, where you can hear him live on KEXP, Supreme La Rock is an internationally known DJ in a lane of his own. With a vast myriad of musical tastes and a distinct style, he is a world-class DJ set on raising the bar every time he steps up to the decks.
Kellie Rose
Dune Peninsula Stage | 3:00 – 4:00 pm
Kellie Rose is an American songwriter, singer and producer currently residing in Seattle, WA. With her voice, looping pedal, and acoustic guitar, she layers her vocals, percussion, and strings to create an enchanting experience filled with brightness and human connection. Her goal when performing is not necessarily to be seen by the audience, but through hearing her music, those in her audience feel they have been seen.
Shaina Shepherd
Dune Peninsula Stage | 4:30 – 5:30 pm
Known for her pervasive style as front woman to the soul-grunge band BEARAXE, Shaina Shepherd is a self-described “anthem artist,” translating pivotal moments in human history through her unique form of poetry. Her dynamic vocal stylings combine the power of theater with the tender introspection of American folk music in a commitment to every strong, story, and note being real, raw and present. A teacher at heart, Shaina’s songs often include a moment of audience interaction or shared moments of reflection.
Tomo Nakayama
Dune Peninsula Stage | 6:00 – 7:00 pm
Born in Japan and raised in Seattle, WA, Tomo Nakayama is an artist whose melodic, complex and emotionally compelling music has been praised by NPR, New York Times and The Stranger. After two critically acclaimed indie-folk albums Fog on the Lens and Pieces of Sky he surprised his fans by releasing the synthpop album Melonday which was named one of the Top Albums of 2020 by Seattle Times, KEXP, and Seattle Met Magazine, and debuted at #1 on the NW Charts.

Blue Wave
Dune Peninsula Stage | 7:30 – 8:30 pm and 9:00 – 10:00 pm
Amazing dance parties are how Blue Wave earned their fantastic reputation. Performing a mix of Top 40 Contemporary, Classic Rock, Motown, and Pop Throwbacks, Blue Wave will have everyone on their feet and singing along to all their favorite songs.
Mike illvester
Mike illvester has been a producer and DJ in the music industry for over 20 years. Formerly of the neo-soul duo Fly Moon Royalty, illvester focuses his efforts in the Hip Hop & R&B genre, but enjoys collaborating with local artists, musicians, and organizations of all variety. Beyond Mike’s solo body of work, his endeavors extend to writing original music for indie films to commercial and corporate. His clients include Microsoft, REI, The Seattle Symphony, The Seattle Times, and has been featured by outlets such as KEXP, AfroPunk.com & USA Today. When he’s not producing his next project, illvester has several DJ residencies around Seattle, Washington.
Wesley Garman
Cummings Park Stage presented by Lightcurve | 3:00 – 4:00 pm
This one is for the kids! Wesley has been a shameless performer for as long as he has possessed theory of mind. Writing his own novelty songs and performing covers in his spare time, and working professionally as a traveling music teacher for middle, elementary and preschoolers, he has had no impetus to grow up.
Tekla Waterfield
Cummings Park Stage presented by Lightcurve | 4:30 – 5:30 pm
Seattle based singer/songwriter, Tekla Waterfield lives in the wide-open realm of Americana music, incorporating elements of folk, country, rhythm and blues, and soul creating a wide-ranging sound. With influences ranging from Courtney Barnett to Aimee Mann, Jim James, Wilco, The Velvet Underground and Marvin Gaye, Waterfield is a dynamic vocalist, songwriter and performer. She has released two albums, both of which received radio play and critical acclaim, and had her music placed in multiple films.

REPOSADO

REPOSADO is a collective dedicated to using the power of music to connect and transcend. Channeling the musical stylings of Fela Kuti, Fania All-Stars, Curtis Mayfield, and James Brown, they create a modern bilingual activation. Their rhythm-driven and dynamic landscapes pull from the Caribbean, West Africa, Queens, and front man Jean-Paul’s new home base in Seattle. Bringing heart and inspiring all to get on their feet, REPOSADO is music to honor the past, present, and future with hope, respect, and celebration.

A dedicated quiet area will be open from 11 am-3 pm at Cummings Park.
Looking for a brief respite from the sights and sounds of today’s festivities? You can find a quiet, low-sensory tent located between Jack Tanner and Cummings Parks for all ages to use. The space will be furnished with chairs, tables and small cushions. Sensory tools such as headphones and earplugs will be available to check out along with some quiet hands-on activities for calming the senses.
- The area will be open from 11 am-3 pm.
- Children must be accompanied by an adult. Drop-off care is not provided.
