About the Pool

Admission Fees

Admission is only sold to swimmers who are present at the gate. Pre-sale, or online sale of tickets is not possible.

  • Children ages 4 and under: Free
  • Youth ages 5-17: $8
  • Adults (ages 18+): $10
  • Adult Lap Swim: $5 drop-in fee
Group Admission Policy

Maximum of 25 per group. 72 hour notice required for groups of 20-25. Contact the pool to make a reservation by calling (253) 404-3920 or emailing [email protected]

Pool Features

The only wave pool in Pierce County is 5 feet deep at its deepest end and features a gradual beach-like entry, so it’s easy for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the water. A separate shallow tot pool and sprayground ensure a fun time for the whole family.

The pool is cleared and closed for cleaning between swim sessions. Kandle Pool is currently open 7 days per week and will increase operational hours as our staffing levels increase.

Pool Safety Rules

Before you Swim:

  • Children ages 6 and younger (and those older who cannot meet the minimum height requirement 42″), must be within arms length of an adult at all times while in the pool.
  • Maximum of two children ages 6 and younger per adult.
  • Children ages 9 and younger must be accompanied by an adult at pool facilities.
  • Children between the ages of 7-9 will be swim tested in order to swim without a parent being in the water with them.
  • A cleansing shower must be taken before entering the pool.
  • Glass containers and alcohol are prohibited in the facility.
  • Proper swim wear required (cut-offs and jean shorts are not allowed)
  • Individuals with communicable diseases are prohibited from using the pool.
  • Individuals under the influence of alcohol and / or drugs are prohibited from the facilities.

In the Pool:

  • Participants must follow the instruction of the lifeguard at all times.
  • All accidents should be reported to the lifeguard.
  • No diving from side of the pool in water less than ten feet (10) deep.
  • Running, pushing, and dangerous horseplay are prohibited.
  • Jumping backwards, back-dives, and flips are prohibited off the side of the pool.
  • Use of mask, fins, and snorkels is prohibited during recreational swims. With adult supervision (one-arm length) small flotation devices are permitted in the shallow end only.
  • Food, drink, gum and tobacco are prohibited in the dressing rooms or pool.
  • Non-swimmers and weak swimmers may not use the deep end of the pool. Individuals may be required to pass a swimming test before being allowed into the deep end.

Diving Rules  (where applicable)

  • Check area in front of the board before diving.
  • One person on the board at a time.
  • One bounce on the board.
  • Dive straight off the end of the board.
  • Attempting fancy dives without a coach or proper training is prohibited.

Locker Room Information

Parks Tacoma wants all of our guests to feel comfortable visiting our pools and other facilities. We adhere to WA State Law and we have a variety of options for changing rooms at our pools. These include our regular locker rooms, and private or family changing rooms.

Guests at our pools are most welcome in the locker room that they feel is correct for them and they will be supported by staff.

Personal Flotation Devices

Personal flotation devices

Only coast guard-approved Type III pfds or flotation aids are allowed.  We have these available to loan to swimmers at each pool.

If you bring your own they should have a stamp on them indicating they are coast guard approved, which the lifeguard or pool manager may ask to see.

Inclement Weather Policy

The pool will be closed in the event of:

  • Thunder and lightning
  • Heavy rains prevent visibility to the pool bottom
  • Air quality or heat advisories are in place

Kandle Pool is open during the hours listed below. An alert will be added to the top of the Kandle Pool page to indicate if the pool is closed.
