About the Pool

Admission Fees

Admission: (except lessons)

Entry fee applies only to recreational or lap swim.

Pool Safety Rules

  • Children ages 6 and younger (and those older who cannot meet the minimum height requirement 42″), must be within arms length of an adult at all times while in the pool.
  • Maximum of two children ages 6 and younger per adult.
  • Children ages 9 and younger must be accompanied by an adult at pool facilities.
  • Children between the ages of 7-9 will be swim tested in order to swim without a parent being in the water with them.
  • No diving from side of the pool in water less than ten feet (10) deep.
  • Use of mask, fins, and snorkels is prohibited during recreational swims. With adult supervision (one-arm length) small flotation devices are permitted in the shallow end only.
  • A cleansing shower must be taken before entering the pool.
  • Participants must follow the instruction of the lifeguard at all times.
  • Running, pushing, and dangerous horseplay are prohibited.
  • Non-swimmers and weak swimmers may not use the deep end of the pool. Individuals may be required to pass a swimming test before being allowed into the deep end.
  • Jumping backwards, back-dives, and flips are prohibited off the side of the pool.
  • Food, drink, gum and tobacco are prohibited in the dressing rooms or pool.
  • All accidents should be reported to the lifeguard.
  • Individuals with communicable diseases are prohibited from using the pool.
  • Individuals under the influence of alcohol and / or drugs are prohibited from the facilities.
  • Proper swim wear required (cut-offs and jean shorts are not allowed)

Diving Rules  (where applicable)

  • Check area in front of the board before diving.
  • One person on the board at a time.
  • One bounce on the board.
  • Dive straight off the end of the board
  • Attempting fancy dives without a coach or proper training is prohibited.

Swim Test Policy

Lifeguards may ask swimmers of any age to take the test. All swimmers ages 6 and under must remain within arm’s reach of an adult at all times.

Swim Test includes:

  • Swim length of pool using forward progress
  • Float/tread water for 15 seconds
  • Exit pool without assistance
  • Wristband System:
    • Green Band = test passed
    • Red Band = lifejacket required

Additional testing may be required based on each facility’s unique features. Swimmers who do not pass must stay within arm’s reach of an adult or remain in the shallow end.

Locker Room Information

Parks Tacoma wants all of our guests to feel comfortable visiting our pools and other facilities. We adhere to WA State Law and we have a variety of options for changing rooms at our pools. These include our regular locker rooms, and private or family changing rooms.

Guests at our pools are most welcome in the locker room that they feel is correct for them and they will be supported by staff.

Adult Spa Regulations

  • Spa should not be used alone.
  • A cleansing shower is required before spa entry.
  • Use is restricted to those 18 years of age and older.
  • Soak time should be limited to 15 minutes.
  • No diving into the water.
  • No glass containers in the facility. Food, drink, gum, and tobacco are prohibited in the dressing rooms, pool, and spa.
  • Proper swim wear required (no cut-offs allowed in the spa). Anyone in diapers must wear protective covering to prevent contamination; diaper changing only at designated diaper change areas.
  • Participants must follow the instructions of the lifeguard at all times. Persons refusing to obey rules are subject to removal from the premises.
  • Running, pushing dangerous horseplay, and vulgar/abusive language are prohibited.
  • Use by anyone with open wounds or a communicable disease is prohibited.
  • Use by anyone who has been ill with vomiting or diarrhea withing the last two (2) weeks is prohibited from using the spa.
  • Anyone under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs is prohibited from the facility.
  • Consult a physician prior to spa use if you are suffering from heart disease, diabetes, or high blood pressure.
  • Anyone with seizures, heart, or circulatory problems should swim with a buddy.
  • Women who are or might become pregnant should consult a physician before using the spa.
  • All emergencies should be reported to a lifeguard or pool manager, when on duty, or front desk staff.
  • Maximum number of people allowed in spa is 14.
  • In an emergency, call 9-911.
  • A first-aid kit is located inside the pool office.
  • Emergency phones are located inside the pool office and front desk.

Testing of water quality is done on a regular basis. When water quality readings are not within range, closures are necessary to promote health and safety of all users. Please do not enter bodies of water with a closed sign or move the closed sign. Please see aquatics or center staff for more information if a closure occurs.

Adult Sauna Regulations

  • Allow yourself at least 5 minutes after exercising to cool down before entering the sauna.
  • Pregnant women and persons suffering from heart disease, diabetes, high or low blood pressure, circulatory or respiratory problems, seizures or epilepsy should not enter sauna without prior medical consultation.
  • Do not use the sauna while under the influence of any type of  alcohol, drugs, anticoagulants, antihistamines, vasoconstrictor, vasodilators, stiumlants, hypnotics, narcotic or tranquilizers.
  • This is a dry sauna. Do not pour water on the electric coals.
  • Clean swim attire or T-shirt and shorts must be worn. Shoes & socks are not permitted in the sauna.
  • Participants are required to bring a towel to sit on when using the sauna.
  • Observe reasonable time limit. Do not exceed 15 minutes.
  • Drink plenty of fluids before & after using the sauna.
  • Shaving and the use of oils or fragrance is prohibited.
  • Do not exercise, eat, or drink beverages in the sauna room.
  • Newspapers and other reading materials are prohibited.
  • Metal jewelry & electronics may be damaged by high temperatures and are not recommended to be brought into the sauna. Doing so you assume the associated risks and expense.
  • Please be aware of the surface of the rocks, heater & surrounding area which may be extremely hot.
  • Do not use the sauna to dry clothes, swimsuits or towels. Do not place materials near the heater or guard fence.
  • Exit immediately if you experience any nausea, dizziness, hot flashes, cold chills, headaches or other discomfort.
  • After using the sauna, participants must shower prior to entering the Spa/Hot tub or pool.

Accessibility Information

Norpoint Pool features a zero-barrier curbless entry to the pool gently sloping down to a maximum depth of 3 feet along the entire side of the pool, with a splash feature.

Across the sloped portion there is a set of steps with 7” high steps and multiple handrails.

Lifeguards and aquatics staff have a pool chair at Norpoint pool for use by people with mobility-related disabilities and their families. Aquatics staff are trained to assist participants in the chair in and out of the pool safely using the zero-barrier slope.

The locker rooms at Center at Norpoint feature partitioned showers with wall-mounted folding shower chairs, stud-mounted grab bars, handheld showerheads, and seated-access faucet controls and soap dispensers.

  • Friday:  5:45 am – 6:45 pm
  • Saturday: 8:15 am – 2:30 pm
  • Sunday: 9:15 am – 3:30 pm

NOTE: The adult spa is open during the hours listed above. An alert will be added to the top of the Norpoint Pool page to indicate if the adult spa area is closed.
