This skateboard park is getting a new bowl.
Latest Updates
April 2026:
The newly expanded Stewart Heights Skatepark opened to skaters in November 2025, and a community celebration is scheduled for May 2 at 12-2 pm.
Skateboarders now have a 4- to 6-foot-deep concrete bowl to show off their tricks, plus many of the existing skate features were upgraded. This skatepark was the third built by Parks Tacoma back in 2001, switched from modular wood to concrete in 2008 and was due for some love.
It was paid for by a grant and the 2014 voter-approved bond so thank you, Tacoma, for investing in recreation assets that allow our community skaters a place to learn, play and grow! A community celebration will happen in the spring so stay tuned.
Project Overview
Skatepark Project
Parks Tacoma is building a new bowl to add onto the existing skateboard park at Stewart Heights. After collaborative conversations with the Tacoma skate community, a new bowl was determined as the best addition to expand the park’s skate area. Community members helped shape the design of the add-on and helped select the designer of the new bowl.
