Rainy Day Special

A little rain does not have to stop the fun. On select rainy days, Parks Tacoma may activate a Rainy Day Special at both Kandle Pool and Stewart Heights Pool, offering reduced admission while pools remain open and safe for swimming.

Rainy Day Special Rates

  • Youth ages 3 and under: free
  • Youth ages 3–17: $4
  • Adults ages 18+: $6
  • Adult Lap Swim: $5

Cabana fees are not included in the promotion and remain at regular price.

How will I know when it is active?

The Rainy Day Special is not automatically activated every time it rains. Parks Tacoma Aquatics staff will determine when weather conditions qualify and when pools can safely remain open.

When the Rainy Day Special is in effect, we will post updates on Parks Tacoma’s Facebook pages and share signage at Kandle Pool and Stewart Heights Pool. Check Facebook before you head out for the latest information.

Good to know

  • The special applies at both outdoor pools when activated.
  • Once activated, discounted rates apply to all remaining swim sessions that day.
  • Pools must remain open and safe to operate for the promotion to be offered.
  • Rainy Day Special rates cannot be combined with other admission discounts or promotions.
  • Admission purchased before the promotion is activated cannot be refunded or adjusted.

Safety always comes first. Lightning, severe weather, unsafe air quality or other hazardous conditions may still delay or close pool operations. A little rain may be pool weather—but our standard weather safety procedures always remain in place.

Pool Features

Locker Room Information

Parks Tacoma wants all of our guests to feel comfortable visiting our pools and other facilities. We adhere to WA State Law and we have a variety of options for changing rooms at our pools. These include our regular locker rooms, and private or family changing rooms.

Guests at our pools are most welcome in the locker room that they feel is correct for them and they will be supported by staff.

Personal Flotation Devices

Only coast guard-approved Type III PFDs or flotation aids are allowed. We have these available to loan to swimmers at each pool.

If you bring your own they should have a stamp on them indicating they are coast guard approved, which the lifeguard or pool manager may ask to see.

This facility meets accessibility standards.
