Park Improvements

A beach pavilion, whale sculpture play area, parking, easier water access, safer entry/exits and climate-resilient design will all be unveiled at the reopening celebration of popular Tacoma beach.
Owen Beach updates are designed to improve traffic flow, parking, and recreation spaces while honoring the park’s character.
Updates include:
- New restrooms
- ADA accessible children’s play area
- Pavilion
- Lawn and pathway updates adapted for sea-level rise
- Reconfigured parking and traffic flow
- Improved water access for kayaks and other hand-powered boats
- New accessible beach access for those with mobility issues
- Kayak rentals
- Concession stand
- Picnic Catering
- Renovated historic picnic shelter
